Agricultural production

An aerial survey was undertaken by the Western Cape Department of Agriculture (Elsenburg) in 2013, identifying all agricultural plots in the Western Cape was used as primary input and combined with the yields for different crops, in order to calculate the total production. For to 20 most important (in terms of hectares planted) crops, relevant yields were obtained. These were obtained through statistical publications and expert estimates, depending on the crop. For the crops outside of the top 20, yields were only entered if they could be easily obtained.
